CISLA: Raising Awareness on Chronic Absenteeism

Communities In Schools of Los Angeles site coordinators help students succeed by connecting students with the resources they need to stay in school and thrive. Watch to learn about the challenges that prevent students from attending school.

15 million kids across the nation aren’t making it to class. But when CISLA is present, 100% of CISLA students show up and stay in school.

During the 2023-24 School Year

Keep a student in school, prepare them for life.

There are many reasons that prevent students from regularly attending school ranging from transportation, mental or physical health, access to clean clothes, or food insecurity. When CISLA site coordinators are physically present inside schools, 100% of CISLA students show up and stay school. We work hand-in-hand with administrators and families to provide essential resources for student success.

Help us show up for more kids...because being present matters!

What we do

Communities in Schools of Los Angeles (CISLA) is an affiliate of Communities In Schools (CIS), the largest dropout (pushout) prevention nonprofit in the United States.

We use our evidenced-based model in schools across the Los Angeles Unified School District that connects students with caring adults and community resources designed to help them succeed.

In partnership with teachers, principals, school staff, and local organizations, we ensure that students – regardless of external challenges – are provided the tools to graduate high school and establish a path to real world success – college, skills and workforce training.

Ways to Support

It’s through the collective efforts of our donors and volunteers that we can continue to reach new heights and bring hope and opportunity to our students.

Your impact is felt in every success story, every empowered student, and every brighter future we help create.
