CISLA's Ongoing Partnership with Schools and a Shared Vision for Impact

communications2623

On January 30th, CISLA brought together 15 principals and CISLA staff members for an inspiring Principals’ Convening at USC Credit Union. This gathering provided an opportunity to share CISLA’s impact across schools, discuss best practices, and identify ways to strengthen collaboration between school leaders and CISLA staff

The convening centered on three key objectives:

  • Showcasing CISLA’s Programmatic Impact, like helping 83% of CISLA students improve their attendance.

  • Identifying opportunities for alignment and integration with school and District priorities, including strategies to ensure kids show up to school ways to combat chronic absenteeism

  • Strengthening CISLA’s program implementation by providing students with a strong community of supporters that help them thrive.

Participants got to hear from Alison, a CISLA student at Clinton Middle School, who shared how the program has transformed her confidence and academic journey. Her story reinforced the impact of CISLA’s work and the significance of continued collaboration.

"Hearing directly from students like Alison is always a powerful reminder of why we do this work," said Elmer Roldan, CISLA’s Executive Director.  "Equally important is the opportunity to listen to school leaders about the impact that our partnership has to resolve challenges and uplift opportunities for kids. By having these conversations, we’re able to better align our work and make sure we're supporting CISLA students in the most meaningful way."

The convening was also an opportunity for principals to connect, exchange ideas, and share best practices. Many expressed appreciation for the space to have these critical conversations, emphasizing the importance of partnership in supporting students. Tasha Bell, principal at Daniel Webster Middle School, shared, "CISLA is a great resource to support student learning, family collaboration, and student achievement."

This convening was just the beginning. We know that real change happens when we create space for dialogue and action. CISLA is committed to continuing these conversations, working hand-in-hand with our school partners to strengthen our impact. We look forward to more opportunities to listen, learn, and build together for the benefit of our students.
