Αshley Βatres
Administrative Assistant
Αshley Βatres (Administrative Assistant) joined CISLA in August 2024, she is the executive assistant to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors. She also supports the Chief Development Director with special projects, data tracking, and reporting. Before joining CISLA, Ashley was an intake manager and legal assistant at a law firm specializing in worker's compensation. She assisted the attorneys and the injured workers they represented by conducting legal research and streamlining communication between all parties. She strived to advocate for her clients, to protect their rights and get them the treatments they deserved, from helping people who feared reporting their injuries because of their immigration status and to those who were threatened against reporting. Ashley discovered after working there that she wanted to shift her professional focus towards supporting a cause that instead seeks to advocate and help communities in need.
During her time as a legislative intern for the California State Senate, Ashley jumped into assisting with communication and outreach between the senator’s office and the community in the 32nd District. This included connecting with constituents through community events and office visits. Ashley would analyze the data from these interactions to support legislative research efforts.
Ashley graduated from CSU-Long Beach with a degree in Political Science with a minor in Spanish. After studying abroad and receiving specialized English/Spanish translation and interpretation training at the University of Salamanca in Spain, the experience inspired her to continue to travel the world. Since then, Ashley has visited thirteen countries to date! In her free time, Ashley also enjoys music, books, gaming, collecting, working out, crocheting, and trying new restaurants.
